Oops, All Hoeny Boys

The chat's tenth name and one of the two most-fondly-cited names in its history. Set by Cullen Conway on 2023-01-14 and held for 125 days through 2023-05-19. Roughly 9,277 messages were sent under this name.

Oops, All Hoeny Boys is the chat's second hoen-derived name and is, alongside Render Unto Steezer, the most fondly cited by veteran members. The name parodies Cap'n Crunch's Oops! All Berries breakfast cereal — a 1997 product whose joke is that the marshmallow component is replaced by berries. In the chat's adaptation, it is the chat itself that has been replaced by the marshmallow.

Founding

Cullen Conway executes the rename at 2023-01-14 15:26 UTC. The chat's first in-message recognition of the new name comes 13 days later:

"Is it possible we will see all hoeny boys in one place, at the same time?" — Daniel Miller, 2023-01-27

The bare phrase Hoeny Boys — capitalized, no possessive — is, after the rename, a stable group vocative. By 2023-02-07 Daniel Miller is shouting:

"the hoeny boys ARE FUCKING HOEND UP TODAY" — Daniel Miller, 2023-02-07

And by 2023-03-17:

"HOENY BOYS ASSEMBLE!!!" — Daniel Miller, 2023-03-17

The Max Lieberman welcome

The era's most institutionally important moment is the addition of Max Lieberman on 2023-02-03. Cullen Conway issues the welcome in canonical form:

"Hello Max, welcome to Oops, All Hoeny Boys" — Cullen Conway, 2023-02-03

This is the only message in the corpus in which a chat name is invoked as the formal welcome line for a new member, and the encyclopedia treats it as the canonical use.
