Mercedes

The partner of Max Lieberman and one of the chat's recurring non-member cast members, mentioned 35 times in the corpus and routinely included in Max's hoen RSVPs from her introduction on 2023-02-08 through 2026.

Mercedes is the partner of Max Lieberman and one of three named non-members the chat treats as effectively recurring cast (alongside Amanda — Cullen's partner — and Heather — Evan's wife; see Heather (disambiguation)). The name appears 35 times in the corpus, the first occurrence five days after Max himself joined the chat.

Entry

Max joined the chat on 2023-02-03. Five days later he confirmed his first hoen with the construction that would become his standard:

"I'm in, Mercedes too I think." — Max Lieberman, 2023-02-08

The phrasing — I'm in, Mercedes too I think — establishes the chat's eventual convention that Max RSVPs as a plural by default. The construction recurs more or less unchanged through 2026 ("Mercedes and I are down," 2026-02-05).

Notable appearances

  • 2023-04-11Max Lieberman: "Mercedes and I saw the lead singer of slipknot at an antique store." The only known crossover between Mercedes and the chat's slipknot canon.
  • 2023-05-26Max Lieberman: "I just cracked a Hoen and am about to mow the lawn. Mercedes is hoping to be back from work around 3 and I believe she wanted to have a beverage and maybe food." The first time Mercedes is documented as a chat-internal hoen co-RSVP.
  • 2023-06-13Evan Bbbender: "It's something Mercedes said to max that I found quite amusing" — the only chat-member observation about something Mercedes said, by an outside member.
  • 2023-08-08Kyle Derrick asks the chat's first explicitly disambiguating question: "Max, is it just you or also Mercedes?" — establishing that Max+Mercedes is the chat's first compound RSVP unit and requiring future hoens to specify.
  • 2025-08-08 — Max: "Mercedes likely in tow. We're going to try to get in to fantino on division for dinner..." — the late-corpus equivalent of the 2023 introduction, now treated as routine.

Distinct from "Merced"

The chat's verb Merced — meaning being shot, as in Kyle Derrick's "I do like the thought of Kirk having left shid in the toilet before getting Merced" (January 29, 2026) — is unrelated, despite the orthographic coincidence. Merced derives from Charlie Kirk's September 2025 shooting; Mercedes is a person and has been part of the chat continuously since 2023. See The Kirk Method for the unrelated etymology.
